This course explains the requirements and the implications of the UK Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 for those responsible for electrical safety at work, safe handling of batteries and associated electrical hazards in the Hybrid/Electric Industry. It clearly outlines the duties and responsibilities of everyone affected by the legislation.

This course is designed to meet and exceed ISO 18436 part 7 CAT 2 and ANSI/ASNT CP105 & CP – 189 (2016) Level 2 recommended practices, covering all of the relevant infrared theories and physics required to produce a professional Thermography Inspection Report.

The course prepares the candidate for qualification as a CAT 2 certified thermographer. The candidate will learn about topics in infrared thermography to increase their knowledge about infrared physics, heat science and infrared measurement equipment and its application. As a CAT 2 thermographer, the candidate is able to provide guidance to CAT 1 personnel in the areas of equipment selection, techniques, limitations, data analysis, corrective action and reporting.

This course gives a starting point, for the introduction to Infrared and effective use of a Thermal Camera. The participant will learn about topics pertaining to infrared thermography, with the objective of increasing their knowledge about infrared physics, heat science and infrared measurement equipment (including its application). As a CAT 1 thermographer, you will learn to set up the camera’s settings of Distance, Transmissivity, Emissivity, as well as to ensure that the IFOV & MFOV are set correctly, which allows capturing of good images and proficient initial analysis of the obtained images.

This course is intended to provide theoretical and practical instruction on the maintenance, repair and subsequent testing of HV/LV switchgear of various types, up to and including 15kV. Delegates should bring clothing and footwear suitable for maintenance exercises.

This two-day introductory course covers the generation of electricity from first principles. Starting with Fleming’s right-hand rule and progressing through to modern brushless generators. The course also includes the operation, synchronising and protection of generators. This is a classroom-based course with no practical content except for the use of computerised simulators.

This one-day course covers the arc flash risk assessment described in IEEE 1584, as well as examples of incident energy and flash protection boundary calculations. Methods used to calculate fault energy at points on the system are also examined.

The course provides a theoretical overview of the hazards associated with installing, operating and maintaining electrical equipment within potentially explosive areas. This is not a COMP-EX course however, the same theories, details and standards are covered.

This wind farm HV cable termination course is based on a type of cable termination generally used in the wind farm industry by most major contractors. It also provides candidates with knowledge on how a cable is constructed and the function(s) of the individual components.

This course is an introduction to cable termination techniques. It aims to teach the candidates how to properly prepare HV cables for terminating and jointing. It gives candidates a good understanding of how a cable is constructed and explains the function(s) of the individual components.

This course covers the design, construction and operation of induction, synchronous, and variable-speed low voltage AC motors including techniques for motor starting and operation. The course includes both theoretical and practical operation and testing of three phase motors.
